Camp Diekirch: building trust with the right guests

“Most of our motorhome guests find us through Campercontact. It’s a platform we trust — visible, reliable and easy to work with.”
Kim van Halen, owner of Camp Diekirch

What the owners say

“Campercontact quickly became one of our most effective channels in our very first season.”

A green stopover between city and nature

Camp Diekirch is a green campsite on the edge of the town of Diekirch, perfectly located between the Ardennes (Éislek) and the Mullerthal region. Within a ten-minute walk, guests reach the town centre with restaurants, terraces and a supermarket.

For motorhome travellers, the location is especially practical. Public transport in Luxembourg is completely free. From the campsite, there are direct bus connections to Echternach, the Mullerthal and Vianden. The train station is within walking distance and offers a direct connection to Luxembourg City in just over 30 minutes.

This allows travellers to leave their motorhome on site and explore the country comfortably.

A fresh start with a new name and vision

In November 2024, Kim and her partner took over the campsite. At that time, it still operated under a former name and struggled with a declining reputation and low occupancy.

They deliberately chose to rebrand the campsite completely. This meant rebuilding trust, creating visibility and attracting guests who truly fit the atmosphere and vision of Camp Diekirch.

Choosing Campercontact

Before taking over Camp Diekirch, Kim and her partner worked for several seasons as campsite managers elsewhere in Luxembourg. From that experience, they knew that not every platform attracted the type of motorhome traveller they were looking for.

After meeting Campercontact at the Recreatie Vakbeurs in 2024, there was initial scepticism. Still, they decided to give the collaboration a chance and made the location bookable via Campercontact — a platform already trusted by many motorhome travellers.

First season: learning and listening

In 2025, Camp Diekirch did not run a large promotional campaign. The goal was to experience a full season, listen closely to guest feedback and identify opportunities for improvement.

Campercontact proved to be an important source of visibility. Besides direct bookings, many guests mentioned they had discovered the campsite through the platform, confirming its role in building awareness for the new name.

Being bookable makes the difference

By offering instant booking via Campercontact, guests could reserve a stay through a familiar and trusted platform. This lowered the threshold to try a new campsite.

In practice, many guests who initially booked for one night decided to extend their stay after arrival, pleasantly surprised by the location and atmosphere.

Results beyond bookings

The collaboration delivered more than additional reservations. It helped attract the right type of guests and created a more balanced flow throughout the season.

Occasionally, expectations differ and result in a less positive review. What stands out is that other guests often share their own experiences to put things into perspective — strengthening trust in the location.

Looking ahead: welcoming motorhomes year-round

From late 2026, Camp Diekirch will introduce dedicated off-season motorhome pitches. This will allow the campsite to welcome motorhome travellers up to eleven months per year.

These pitches are located in a separate area, protected from high water levels, close to the sanitary facilities and with access to a daily bread service.

Advice to other locations

“Just try the collaboration for one season,” says Kim. “That’s what we did. Only by experiencing it yourself can you really judge what it brings. We were sceptical at first too.”
